Food
Platypuses
are carnivores. They eat insects, larvae, shellfish and worms. Even
though they have no teeth, little pieces of gravel help them to chew.
Platypuses usually hunt underwater.
Habitat
Platypuses
live in the eastern and southern coasts of australia. They live in
freshwater or under rock ledges.
Reproduction
Platypuses
are mammals that lay eggs. When female platypuses want to lay eggs
they dig up a burrow. Their eggs hatch after 10-15 days. Baby
platypuses stay with their mother for 3-4 months and they cannot
swim.
Looks
Like
Platypuses
have webbed feet and a duck bill. They also have brown soft fur and
sharp nails. Platypuses have tails like beavers. Males are venomous
Fun
Facts
Some
people say platypuses look like seals. One shot of venom can kill a
dog but thankfully it is not affective to humans. Platypuses are not
endangered.
